Park here to avoid the traffic queues at Corfe Castle. Corfe Castle can be a real bottleneck at weekends and during the summer holidays. Purbeck Park is convenient and offers the cheapest all day summer season car parking. (that is, unless you are a National Trust Member where you could park at the NT car park about 1 mile down the road for free)
Purbeck Park is a Park & Ride with extras. It’s an ideal place to park and use as a starting point to explore the nearby attractions such as Corfe Castle and Swanage by steam train, bike, bus or by foot. The park also has toilets, a cafe and refreshment kiosk, picnic tables and a children’s adventure playground.
Travel Options from Purbeck Park
1. You can take a steam train from Norden train station (Swanage Railway) to Swanage
2. You can walk to Corfe Castle. The scenic trail via the National Trust Visitor Centre is clearly signposted and is about 1 mile and takes 20 minutes to the entrance to Corfe Castle (10 mins to the Visitor Centre and a further 10 mins to the castle)
3. You can hire bikes from Cyclexperience Cycle Hire https://www.cyclex.co.uk/hire-dorset who have their offices at the park. They’ll be happy to kit you out and give you some good cycle routes. Visit their website and download their app for some useful cycle maps.
Purbeck Park Parking Charges
£4 up to 10 hours for cars
£7 up to 10 hours for motorhomes (motorhomes are not permitted between 10pm and 8am)
