Sandbanks Shore Road Beach is the baby sister of the much larger and popular Sandbanks Beach. The actual beach looks exactly the same with wide golden fine sand and gently sloping access to the water making it great for families. However it’s a bit quieter even though it has great facilities such as cafe/bar/restaurant, toilets, beach office, ice-cream kiosk and lifeguard station. Tesco Express is just around the corner on the main road (Banks Road) which helps if you are trying to keep costs down.

Note: Google maps shows Shore Road Beach to be strip of sand on the harbour side of the road (where Shore Road meets Haven Road). This beach is mainly used by kitesurfers on windy days or other watersports enthusiasts. The water is shallow for a long way out so perfect for practising such activities. The Shore Road Beach that we are describing on this page is the beach looking out onto the sea and not the harbour side.
The only problem with Sandbanks Shore Road Beach is that the car park is a bit small and fills up very quickly. (for car park details see bottom of page). Alternative on-road parking can be found along Banks Road BH13 7PW (Pay & Display) or a bit further away in the residential streets – see parking for Flag Head Beach but this may be a bit too far away if you are weighed down with beach bags and equipment.
